My inspiration for this piece was the annual Smorgasburg food festival consisting of over a hundred vendors, that is set up every weekend from April to November. Smorgasburg was inaugurated on the waterfront in Williamsburg in 2011 and is currently in its ninth season. It is famous for being the wellspring of the newest fusion food trends in New York City like the Ramen Burgers, Pineapple Shrimp Rice, Ube Icecream, and Dulce de Leche Cronuts.

This piece is inspired by the time I was introduced to Smorgasburg by a friend, during my first year in New York City. Stepping into the food festival on that perfect summer Sunday, felt like walking through a real life outdoor flea market version of the Willy Wonka factory where the wildest fusion food dreams came true.
